Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative said the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
