New York Attorney General Confronts Federal Bank Fraud Indictment

A national judicial panel has indicted the New York attorney general for bank fraud this past Thursday, per someone with knowledge of the case.

Lindsey Halligan handled the presentation of the charges to the grand jury this Thursday, as reported.

US attorneys rarely appear before a grand jury.

Halligan took over the position recently after the president became frustrated with the pace in ongoing probes involving adversaries.

This step represents the newest attempt to utilize the DOJ to punish opponents.

It follows 14 days following Halligan secured charges involving Comey.

Career prosecutors drafted a memorandum in that case explaining why indictments were not warranted.

Comey pleaded not guilty recently.
