New England Equal Best Victory Run Since Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth straight win for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph extends the Patriots advantage at the top of the division as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had scored first at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard TD to conclude the New York's first possession
But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two short rushing scores before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Justin Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
