Cairo and Qatar are actively pursuing attempts to convince Hamas to comply with the former US president's demand to halt the hostilities in Gaza, according to Egypt's foreign minister.

Mounting Diplomatic Pressure on the Group

Badr Abdelatty emphasized that the moment has arrived for the organization to surrender arms and refrain from offering Israeli forces any justification to persist in its offensive in the region, where numerous civilians were lost their lives on recently.

“Hamas should not be used as an excuse for the relentless killing of innocents, a situation that has worsened significantly since last year,” the minister remarked.

The diplomat added that Cairo is “coordinating with our brothers in Qatar and with our colleagues in Turkey in order to convince Hamas to respond positively to this plan”.

Israel has been accused of attacking hospitals and medical workers, with healthcare professional reportedly “abducted” while heading to her job in a southern city.

Authorities has previously claimed that arrested medical officials had ties to the group, though offering no substantiation.

Fatalities from the conflict in the strip has amounted to at least 62,622 Palestinians fatally injured and nearly 170,000 hurt, per the Gaza health authority.
