Dominant Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Accolades.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a record £11m in tournament winnings.
She received nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a new level".
