Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
